Locks
During your cruising, and in accordance with your way, you will cross a certain quantity of locks and bascule bridges.To cross these locks and bridges, it is free. You have to pass about 10 to 20 minutes to cross a lock.
Locks are automatic or manual; el lock keeper could ask your collaboration. On Charente, there is no lock keeper and the yachtman have to manipulate himself the locks. In this ship canal, there is no problem of time, and you can cross locks when you want.

Cruising speed
The normal speed is around 8 kph. Foresee to sail around 4-5 hours per day and cover a distance of 30-40 kms. Don't forget the necessary time to cross the locks.
